Pub of the Year 2007
The SW London CAMRA Pub of the Year for 2007 (i.e. the current Pub of the Year throughout 2008) is the Trafalgar <www.thetraf.com> in Merton. The Pub of the Year is voted for by members’ ballot and was announced at the Battersea Beer Festival on Thursday 7th February 2008. The Traf is only a ten minute walk from the Sultan so a visit to the top two pubs is easily possible in a single session.
A five minute walk from South Wimbledon Underground Station this is a small, traditional local pub dating from the 1860s and adorned with Nelson memorabilia. It’s a free house serving Fuller’s Gales HSB and 4 or 5 changing guest beers, many coming from the microbreweries including Dark Star, and often including a mild.
Following this success in SW London, the Trafalgar was also voted the 2008 CAMRA Regional Pub of the Year for the whole of the Greater London area. The Pub featured on the cover of the October/November 2008 edition of the London Drinker Magazine.
