Wednesday 22nd October 2008 saw the presentation of the Certificate for the CAMRAswl Consistent Good Service Award to Terry and Debbie Urwin at the Princess of Wales Morden Rd, Merton, SW19 3BP. The presentation was by SW London CAMRA branch Chairman Martin Butler who lives nearby and is a regular at the Princess of Wales.

The certificate presented read “With grateful thanks for over twenty years of good beer in a good local pub”. Terry and Debbie have been running the Princess of Wales for over 20 years. Just over 10 years ago there were plans to close the pub (then called Prince of Wales) for redevelopment but there was such opposition from the regulars and local residents that the pub was refurbished instead. It remains a popular local pub with a great atmosphere and excellent beer.
